Guitar
« on: June 18, 2009, 02:00:12 PM »
I wanted to get an electric guitar, ive been playing acoustic for a while, and I love it, thing is, i want to get an electric because they are just pure awesome and apparently they are much better for beginners. My friend whos very good at guitars said either get an encore or fender stratocastor, however I heard the sound of encores on youtube, and I just love the sound that the fenders make

So should I get one? Or is there a better one? (Sorry i just got into guitars so i might sound like a noob)

That one, same colour, same model, but the one I will get just has a whammy bar (Which i kind of want)

music mod expresses his wrath as he cant do anything about it atm

also, strats are BORING. Plus, if you were going to srat get a Squier not a Fender. way cheaper and the difference is indestiguishable to the novice player. look around a lot on the internet, e.g. www.thomann.de (they ship to the UK, and it's in english). there are a lot of shapes and set ups you can look at (e.g. pickup styles, finishes, woods etc.)

that guitar is okay for beginners... and i wouldn't get a whammy bar... get a whammy pedal as they are soooo much easier to use (and im a drummer)

Told you im a noob to guitars, it was a squier, I thought fender was the company name :| Im so dumb, lol well I boring isn't really a problem, I just want to get into guitaring more, argos have it with a 10w amp and everything I need for about £160 (Or the guitar itself for £100)

I know 10W (Or it might be 20W) isnt that much, but not like im performing or anything, just going to be playing all day in my room

Is it possible to easily remove them, because ive got my eye on the guitar, and the whammy bar is a plus, I think it sounds awesome when you use it

if you still want to play clean guitar go with a Squier Telecaster instead of a strat, they really have the best clean tone, even though they are cheapish compared to most they are paralleled only by the PRS range.

If you want to get more into playing heavy, go with a double humbucker guitar like a Les Paul imitation or something

Hey guys, instead of getting the fender, i swapped an old pc for a guitar and amp from a friend, and for a 'shiiiieeeettt' computer, it was worth it, especially for my first guitar as i gotta admit it is quite awesome, not as good as a les paul gibson though, its a satellite les paul copy, in sunburst. It sounds awesome with the marshall amp he gave me with it

Now i just gotta learn how to play good

Wait so you already own a gibson but you got another guitar?
DUDE you should've sold  off the Gibson and bought yourself an awesome rig!
I've been playing for 7 years now and only got my first Gibson a few months ago!I also bought an awesome ibanez 7 string ^_^
But yeah, sell off the Gibson and you could afford a decent jackson or ibanez guitar,a line 6 spider amp,a boss gt effects pedal,a lightsnake or stealthplug recording interface AND still be able to afford loads of other cool stuff.Gibsons are great guitars, but until you have everything else then don't bother with one.

but whatever just get a guitar that you like the feel of...

a $300 guitar is not awesome... that's not even mid range... unless the person that sold it is stupid as hell...

i think the best one is up to you
all you have to do is play it and see if you like it
i got my lespaul gibson for 5,000 $ and its the best
and if your gonna go for beginners its ok to use the strato but once you get good you might want to get a telecaster instead (you might hunger for more sound performance)
or if your damn rich you might wanna get some powerfull guitars (gibson, yamaha etc)

I have a Squier Tele and I like it a lot. I changed the pick-guard on it to a brushed steel look, I also added a humbucker on it and I switched the control bar (thing with nobs and pickup changer) around and I like it :)
BTW the Fender is the name of the company, Squier is just a cheaper line of guitar from Fender, just like Epiphone is a cheaper line of Gibson. I would also recommend a Ibenaz or a PRS.
