Do this with a hard drive?
« on: June 03, 2009, 09:02:49 AM »
Can you hook your xbox 360 hard drive up to your pc with a sata cable and copy games with img burner and put them on the hard drive? If you can, can you then hook the hard drive back to your xbox and play the game without the disc?

I'm not sure you could do this, but you still need the disc to play the game, even though its saved to the HDD...

I don't know much about it, but I doubt it, but you can download whole games of the market place.. if you went into that found the file type etc.. but i'm not sure the xbox would let you still....

But i don't know much.. :/

yes, you can do this, or at least xport advertises it, but you would still need the disk.

you can load the game to your hd and back up your hd with xport. the only advantage I see to this is you cna copy the game to the hd then back it up, so if your hd fails you can just plug it back into the pc and move the file back as needed. but this is all redundant back up becouse you will always need the disk....

wait, I think what you are asking is, can you back it up to your hd and modify it some way on your pc, so you wont need the disk?? (that would be a form of piracy) please be very careful here I am tempted to lock this as is. the only reason I have not is becase there is a slight chance that you have a malfunctioning disk drive and the xbox cant read the disk...hit.. hit..

isn't this discussion fine? he hasn't asked for links
so to make it clear
discussiong of the following are ok
- how to make backups from your personal games
- problems regarding backups.
- the installation of hardware or software needed to help in the backups.

but we will not tollerate
- how to download games and ware to download them from
- where to get ilegal files needed
- where to buy the hardware or software from.

and yea I don't belive you can install to the harddrive, because ms already has a option to install games and it will still require a id check from the disk.

LOL ghost there is that fine line again.... it is paper thin, the whole reason you need the disk is to protect against piracy.
do you think theres any type of file you can put to run it without the disc?
I think that would probably qualify as an illigal file type...its still open for now..

not sure ben, but the playstation knows, and it upsets me waitning 20 mins before I can play beacuse I rent alot of games and rarly get the same disk twice. I've gotten into the habit now if I want to check it out more than once I just buy it. but even then I must reinstall the game..

ben as long as its the same game it works. I got cod 4 for free becuase it wouldn't load past the menu screen, then I installed a copy of my freinds to my hardrive and just use the scratched disk to register the game.

lol and matt,
do you think theres any type of file you can put to run it without the disc?
is only searching for info on "the installation of hardware or software needed to help in the backups" he never asked where to download it. :victory: . But meh you are of higher authority so if you deem it nececery to lock this topic, thats fine.

no gohst, I dont want to lock anything, I try to give slight hits so the topic doesnt go into that restricted area of discussion.  I belive in back up everything. but not piracy, piracy is what leads to crappy games, due to the developers loosing profits, due to less sales, that is why nowdays when you buy a music disk it only has one good song on it.

and that is great to know that I can rent a WAW and load it to rthe HD and use my disk to just start it, because my disk has the circle scratch and wont load dome any more.

yea thats a great technique, as long as it still registers the game id. You can usally get a disk resurfaced for only a few dollars too.

Let me just make this clear so we dont get anymore threads like this.

As of right now, there is no way to play games without a disc
-other than the downloadable games on the marketplace

cant you just download your game to your hard-drive, boot it up with the disk. then take it out?

or is the point of this topic, a form of trying to ask if piracy is possible?

sorry for bamp, and im not giving files, (cause they probably dont exist lol), but if marketplace games dont require a disc to be played, i am thinking that there is a file in the game to send instructions to the DVD drive to not check for a disc, seeing that the game is a digitial download, and no physcial media is in the drive. If someone can check a physical disk installed to HDd and a digital copy installed to HDD, a file allowing the downloaded game to run has to be in there somewhere.

it's not clearly stated if a disc is needed in the drive and I haven't gone through free60.org enough to say, but the latest hack with jtag and dash 7371 apparently will run backups from the hdd...

you can lunch game of the xbox 360 harddrive

1. that xbox have to be  kernel 7xxx or lower
2. that xbox can never go on xboxlive
3. must have some sort of hack done with nand using modchip like Cygnos v2
or dual nand home made mod.

and since everything about this mod is illegal i will not say anymore on how and where to get the files
