TUTORIAL [EXTERNAL] PSP 1000 dual nub

this tutorial is gong to show you how to make an external dual nub



Parts Needed

• extra psp nub
• wire
• psp
• female usb socket
• mle usb socket

Tools Needed

• soldering iron
• solder
• razor blade
• helping hands

Notes:
soldering to small areas, such as traces and usb terminals (flux will help)

 
Step By Step Tutorial
first scrape off the green coding to expose the copper line ONLY.
the red lines are where you need to scrape it off


next scrape here for the GROUND connection


next solder wire to the lines and ground. then put them through the middle hole in the circuit board.


then tape them down on the back to make them as flat as possible.


next solder these wires to the FEMALE min usb. [] goes to [], O goes to O, GROUND gooes to GROUND, ect..., use the scrole bar at the bottom of this post to see the rest of the photo


after that fit it into your psp. this is what min looks like. i used hot glue to hole the female mini usb in place. i also trimed the face plate and moved the charger adapter




next make your nub from wetfusion. in his tTUT, he made a ground ring, i didnt do that. i directly solderd the ground wire to the nub's spring

 you have to strip a little extra coding off the GROUND wire.make it like a half a cm long from the spring.then put the spring through the bottom hole of the nub.then put he middle piece in that the spring goes around. then put the top part of the nub on and work it so the crap all fits.what i did was make a little slit on the bottom part of the nub, going from the center circle to about half way to one of the corners.this makes the  wire stay in place and makes everything fit better.


then solder the the wires to the correct spots on the MALE mini usb


IMPORTANTMAKE SURE YOU TEST YOUT NUB FIRTS BEFOR YOU DO THIS NEXT STEP!

after that used hot glue to shape your modded nub the way you want. min looks like this.




there you go. now test it out

FAQ/ Troubleshooting

• make sure spring is pushed in properly, test nub before gluing
• usb terminals are small becareful to ensure none are or can be bridged
