Controller Error Codes
« on: August 15, 2010, 08:32:38 AM »
I have a Matrix controller that I've added TopFire to, and also lit the ABXY buttons. I used an Octocoupler to power the ABYX buttons. It all works pretty well, however when I push any button (ABYX) the ROL begins to flash in a circle? Is there a list of error codes for the controllers? Or has anyone eles had a simular problem?

Thanks,

Tyler

there are no error codes that I know of for the controller. it seems to spin like that randomly. dose the controller act adversly in any other area? I always thought it did it when the power was getting low, so maybe its drawing alot of power on a weak power source????

It could be running low on batteries. My rechargeable does this when it has 2 notches of battery life.

Does it lose connection when it spins? or just spins after pressing a button? It only spins in a circle when connecting/searching for the console or PC adapter after the Sync button is pressed for a couple of seconds, Wireless controller that is. When the batteries are low they alternate flashing 1-4 and 2-3, again Wireless only.

If it's losing connection then the Sync button is being pressed possibly from not putting the shell back together just right where the Sync button is jammed against the shell. That can happen sometimes and taking it apart and putting it back together might resolve it.

Another possibility is that with all you've done in there some wire may be pinched now and hitting a spot that it shouldn't be causing the issue.

In either case I'd take it apart and have a good look at the wiring, if nothing looks pinched or damaged put it all back together and make sure the Sync button clicks as well, so you know it's not jammed up, then see how it acts.

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

Thought about the low battery, so I tried a brand new set. Also took the shell apart a couple of times, and will once more to check for wiring problems. All other aspects work great, in fact everything works until I press ABY or X, that's when it goes haywire!

I'll keep working on it, if anyone has anymore thouhgts, please let me know.

Regards.

Is it just spinning the lights or does it lose connection? That wasn't answered specifically from before. You say everything works until you press a button and then it goes haywire, if all it's doing is spinning the lights I wouldn't call that haywire, odd yes, but losing connection would fall in that haywire category.

Even if everything looks good, something sure isn't. The next thing you'll have to do, provided you can't find anything wrong this last go around, is to remove everything you put in there and see how it acts back in the stock setup. If it's still does it then you'll need to go over the board really good and look for a solder splash or missing component.

It was the sync button, well not the button itself, but the front panel. Simply replaced that, and now all is well.

Thanks to everyone that took an interest. I could not have accomplished any of this without this site, and the help of it's loyal following.

Kind regards.
