Viking 360
« on: August 23, 2010, 10:18:49 PM »
Hey guys,

As anyone here, hopefully Hazer,t0ps, or spurgs done and successfully installed the viking chip. I have ordered a few from the Australian reseller, as that's where I live.  Maybe rate the difficulty for me compared to say Flex or t0pfire, of which I have completed around 6 of each for friends and clan members. I have had a quick look at the install diagrams, and it doesnt seem to complicated.
Thanks

the viking instll involves soldering to traces and vias. it is a 15 wire install. it is a complicated install just due to the amount of wires involved.

I got rid of the 3.5mm jack and mounted a mini usb plug in mine.

Hey, I install about 10 a week.. They get easier but you just want to keep your wires tidy :)

Just make sure you get the positioning correct for the 3.5mm Jack as it can be a problem if is too high as it can stop the case from closing.

The controller is badass as it is now, but v2 is soon

Do you have any more info on that v2 and pricing and what not?  What interface will it have with the controller?

very little info has been released, I would assume it is the same usb bootloader to interface withthe pc. it has been stated that the new chip will controll ALL buttons and will have six extra buttons to support macro functions.

Hey matt, I meant will it be the audio jack looking plug in or a mini usb by interface.  Anyways, could you share how you converted yours to mini usb?  I would rather have that since I have a mini usb laying around every corner of my house.  Guess I will wait for v 2.0 to come out before I open any other controllers.  Thanks for any help you can give.

V2 came out today and is only sold as a controller.

as for the v1 dyi, you need to order female usb sockets, just the socket, not the one on breadboard, as it wont fit inside the controller. I will try to draw up a usb pin out this afternoon, when I complete another install.
