wire it in parralel using 330 ohm resistor or 100 ohm just to be safe wire the right in to the 12 v power source should be fine you could use a resistor caculator?

when installing xcm products i never use the dvd connector
if you find a pinout of the dvd conector you can see what the xcm stuff is splicing into (usually just 12v) then cut of the dvd connector and just wire it directly to the motherboard

Never just guess on what resistor you should use. Get a multimeter and get all your readings such as voltages, resistances and amps of whatever your working on.  Use Ohms law to figure out what size resistor you should use.  Resistor calculators can be very helpful too but i prefer the oldschool way. Always wire your leds in parallel to get the best effect.

ill just try and find 3 different 12v spots so they can all work

i would just use the 12v spot but if i have 1 ground will it work for all of the 3 12v sources?

for example find 3 12v spots and for there ground use 1 eire to connect to them all?

it the 12v point in the motherboard of the xbox, i dont know if you have to use this point to light the hard drive but i think is the point you have to use to add leds to your xbox

If i am wrong it would be nice if someone could post other pics

Ok, for the hdd drive i have found this:

You will need to strip the yellow wire(5v+), and the black wire(ground).

its what you did dark_angel???

the way i light my xbox hard drive i went to radio shack and bought 2 blue 3.3v leds and a pack of 47 ohm 1/2 watt resistors and just wire a resistor to the led and wore the positive side to the yellow and the neg to the black for example

(1) 3.3v led and a a 47 ohm restistor
another 3.3v led with another 47ohm resistor

so now we hav 2 3.3v leds and 1 47ohm resistor wired to each of them.

then just place your leds where you want and wire the positives of the leds together and wire it to the yellow wire

next wire your negative wire both neg wires and conect it to the black wire and then test and your done

I cant stress this enough:

Never just guess on what resistor you should use. Get a multimeter and get all your readings such as voltages, resistances and amps of whatever your working on.  Use Ohms law to figure out what size resistor you should use.  Resistor calculators can be very helpful too but i prefer the oldschool way. well said, this was the most important post in this thread!!!

:beg: please use Ohm's law :beg:

R = V / I

I attached my ideal way to power LEDs... connected directly to the power connector underneath the motherboard!
