Custom PCB Help
« on: May 08, 2009, 08:58:49 AM »
I need help designing a custom PCB, which type of connectors am I looking for to use? I know they are called ZIF on the PSP. Also they need to be 8 and 18 pin ribbon connectors any help?

Alien how did you design yours? I downloaded a PCB "creator" and could only find 10 and 20 pin ribbon cable connectors parts available to choose from.

Any help is appreciated!

what program are you using, you need a to learn proper pcb program, such as altium, or I think alein uses eagle cad or something.

I guess you need to talk to alein, or someone else who knows that program.

Well I tried but for some reason he blocked me...

I am trying to figure out what type of connector to use/trying to figure out where it is, I learned the basics and it's a simple pin out board. But anyway I am trying to find the right type of connector similar to the ones on the PSP Motherboard, It's hard because they have a few thousand to look through, they are all just numbers too so unless your quite familiar with the codes of each part you have to pretty much 'play it by ear' as some people say.

I designed my own connector footprints

I can't speak for the slim, but on the psp 1000 they are generally 0.5mm pitch, zif, flip lock connectors. They were either hirose or omron.. can't quite remember which. I had them listed in a post which got deleted along with others by cyberpyrot.

Thanks so much I think I got em, it was the Orman.

Hey quick question, could you unblock my PMs? I would kind of like you to see my plans to make sure everything is in order if you have time. I know your really busy. But I don't want to just post the plans public just yet.

I didnt think they are included in the standard libraries - the manufacturer is hirose.

Are you using the freeware version?

I have unblocked you now

I PMed you about the connector.

Yes I am.

Great lookin robot dude! what does it do though? lol but wow that's really amazing.

EDIT:

Alien, what service did you use for your pcb?

I was going to use this one: http://www.batchpcb.com/index.php/Home

Idk it sounds a good price and it when I click on "Custom PCB" on SparkFun it took me there so Sparkfun sponsors it.

Hey also another quick questin, how do you make a 'custom' shaped board? I need it in a L shape. Also really quick 'noob' question. What do the aquare and polygon tools do? I looked through the manual and google I haven't actually gotten a answer through ether of them though.

HI, golden circuits. You have posted on a really old topic, i'm glad you have though because i am building tutorials on how to make DIY printed circuit boards. However could you tell us exactly what kind of computer aided design(CAD) file formats do you accept?

Does your company accept 1:1 scale images? or do we have to supply you with the CAD file instead? any more info is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Fookz, Thanks for your message. You'd better provide us 2004 CAD file formats.
It is difficult for us to make the PCBs according to the images. You can provide us schematic circuit diagram or CAD file or Gerber file. Furthermore, you can send one samples to us, we will make the PCBs according to the sample.

For further details, please send email to me by sales01@goldencircuits.com

Thanks again.  Alex
