Intel V AMD

Which one is Better.
What is the Best and latest amd processor because I know nothing about the amd family tree. Whats better quality, where are the chips made ( country ).

i have a amd x4 daulcore 3.2ghz never overclocked works great but if your going with amd get a very good cooler.

Intel chips are more expensive, but have better core management, however they aren't as easy to overclock and they like to overheat if you do. They can run Mac OS X too.
Current top processor: i7 (Six Core Version, Sandy Bridge)
Works best with: Windows, OS X

AMD processors are cheaper, easier to overclock, and less likely to overheat. However they aren't as 'intelligent' as Intel Chips at core management.
Current Top-End: Phenom II X6
Works best with: Linux or most other UNIX operating systems (FreeBSD, Solaris, etc)

Do you advise me to get the Amd phenomon x6 3.2ghz, to replace a core 2 duo 2.66ghz

not if you plan on using the same motherboard. those cpus use different sockets, it wont fit.

if you're building to a budget less than £1000, (~$1500), use AMD. You get a lot more bang for your buck. You'll need an AM3 or AM3+ Socket Motherboard.

This has been the rule of thumb as far as Intel Vs AMD processors.

Intel processors are designed to handle large multitasking applications, primarily in an office environment.

AMD processors are designed to run a single application at a smoking speed.


If you're a gamer, then AMD is probably where you're going to want to be. But, if you're doing heavy illustration or 3d design and are expecting to have many open windows all the time and don't want lag between them all, Intel will have what you want.

Neither one is better or worse, but better for what you're going to use it for is an acceptable way to say it.

Like, if I said, "What's better, driving a big mudding truck at a hill climbing event or driving a ricer on the autobahn?" They'll both work, but there's benefits and drawbacks to each.
