Thumbstick led help
« on: August 11, 2012, 01:49:13 PM »
So I saw all the tutorials on led mods by surf I think it was, but I didn't see a thumbstick one. Anyone know how to do this I want a cheap solution just attach LEDs its more of a where is the best spot. I don't want a kit that comes with a board and all that. As well does anyone know if doing all the LEDs will b to much this is what I'm thinking:

Sync button led
Bumper led
Trigger led
ABXY led
Start led
Back led
Dpad led
Mic trim 2 vibrate LEDs
X dome led
And thumbstick LEDs

Can the battery pack support all that

I received your PM you sent me and the list of stuff you had showed me... Thats alot of leds for one controller... and with using the blue leds i think you will have some issues with voltage and will not get the the full brightness of the led.. also i believe the batteries wont last long..

Hey and for the reply, maybe I'll cut it back to bumper smds, trigger 3mm, dome 3mm, thumbstick smd and dpad smd... I'll just switch out the ABXY for blue buttons.

That wat I'm skipping the sync led, ABXY led, the vibrate LEDs, and cutting the size from 5mm to 3mm on 4 LEDs.

Does this seem a little more realistic or still a bit much?

Yea all you can do is try it and see what happens , then maybe go from there.  just make sure you follow the tutorial on the abxy and guide buttons think there is one for the dpad also lighting.

I have 8 Blue LEDs that light up Trim, thumbsticks, triggers and they are running off the batteries and they are still pretty bright. I used a Transistor and 1 100 ohm resistor.

There is a mathematical formula that will tell you if the power source can handle the amount and type of LED's you are using but most people are too lazy to use it or look up the needed info.

Generally its not a matter of what the power supply can run, its a matter of what you can physically install in the controller space.

Good luck. Here is spergurgals tutorial. https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,33937.0.html Page three shows a general placement of thumb stick led's
