« on: June 04, 2011, 11:21:24 AM »
Sup Guys,
my psp 1000 won't charge, I have tried literately everything... The connector plug for the power broke off (see picture) and I had to hard-wire it to the 2 connection points on my motherboard, It did not charge, then I tried the USB charge mod and that did not work as well?? I even tried to charge the battery manually...That did not turn out very well. Need help? Any Suggestions??

maybe you killed the battery

-does the battery work ok in a different psp?
-does the psp turn on if you plug it in but have no battery in it?
-test the voltage from the battery with your multimeter?

The top things I'd do is test the battery in another PSP, and test the power circuit for continuity.

If you don't have another PSP, go to a pawn shop and test one there. Heck, offer the guy behind the counter a dollar to let you test it.

You say it won't charge. Does this mean that it won't turn on, or you can't get the battery to refill.

If it doesn't turn on, you need to bridge the power fuse.

If power won't go through the charge port, it's hard to solder that thing on. Make sure you scrape some insulation off, and solder it so it makes good connection.

And again if It doesn't turn on with the battery, bridge the power fuse.

I'm guessing that the points you soldered to aren't making connection, if they did the usb charge mod would definitely work.

The battery works fine,  its the psp with the problem, If I plug my charger in, without my battery, it still does not turn on? I tested the charger as well, works fine.

Im going to try that, will keep you posted if it works.

Coby VW, please try not to double post like that. You can get into trouble doing that. If you need to add something else, you can just edit your post and add what you need to add.

You can do that by clicking the "modify" button at the top right hand side of each of your posts.
