PS3 pin outs mobo's/power supplies all types
« on: April 05, 2011, 08:56:04 AM »
I want to start a thread to gather information on all pin outs on ps3. EX AV, power , hdd/wifi light, fans, etc.
I would like to collect as much info in one place as I can on this subject for all the different types of Ps3's. I will personally test pin outs on the ps3's I have or get access to and post pics with color coded pin outs.  Right now the only test subject for me is a cechL01. Any one with info and or pics please feel free to post. I would like to keep a standard color code for pin outs though, once a standard is in place. please no questions yet, as this will be a place to get answers once the info is collected.

just by looking at the wire gauge seems the max current output of that 12V spot is 2A maybe less. that's a 24 Watt power output which is a lot of heat.

I believe that you probably can find the following power points in a PS3:
1.8v
3.3v *
4.5v
5v *
7.5v
12v *

I starred* the points that are usually standard in any system or computer.

Sorry its my first post in a old topic, but I need power supply information for my custom build I'm going to be using a hacked atx power supply as a permanent replacement for the Sony power supply I found information on the ATX pin outs but hardly anything on the ps3
here is a link to the diagram of the atx plug I will be hacking for the build... http://i15.servimg.com/u/f15/13/35/92/26/pwr_su10.png

I'm going to be using a 60gb ps3 cecha01 as a donor for my build My goal is to have the ps3 working like stock inside the BTX computer case.

Well first let me say welcome dude. You are in luck as I have a 60gig that I have not done pinouts on. But if all you want to do is swap power suplies,  the pinout for the power supply are the same. I forgot about this thread, I got 3 different version ps3's that have not been pinned out yet.
One question about your mod. Doesn't pc power supplies need a loop back to the pwer supply from the mobo to turn on?

You can accutally jumper the atx power supply and it will come on so you can use it as a normal power supply full 12 volts and 5 volts all the time.

I have seen the jumper method, and used it to test psu's...I'm actually hacking away any unused wires and leaving only those that can make the ATX operate just like the stock Sony psu (just with a lot more power available) I'm just a lil confused on the unlabeled white wires on the stock psu....

Edit...I need new glasses..lol I just re read your post saying the pinouts are the same.

Any pinout points for CECHE01 for 12v, 5v, and 3v?  Testing for new pinouts isnt my forte.  lol
