Xbox 360 RROD problem "Help"
« on: April 12, 2012, 10:39:30 AM »
HI guys, i recently bought an Xbox from a guy in my town for $20. he had it over at a "specialist" who did the x clamp fix on the GPU, i think it broke after he the "specialist" fixed it.

Anywho, i got the 0003 error code which suppousedly is a power supply problem, no clean power from the power connector. eg. a Broken Mosfet, or volt controller? near the PSU cord plug.

I took some pictures with my phone

I think this is markes from the board warping under heat?

Missing Capacitor i need to replace

This is on the CPU, this 8 pin chip thingy looks like its not making contact on the legs marked in red

what is the best advice you guys can give? should i :

[1]check the MOSFETS ( I have no idea how to check if their in working order or not, I read somewhere that by removing 2 copper coils near the PSU plug, you can check the MOSFETS without removing them?

[2] should i Xclamp the thing completely, as the previos xclamp is badly done, reaLLY badly.

[3]OR a reflow? need help on that too  :dntknw:

Sorry for the short novel.

thanx you guys are awesome

see if you can resolder that piece back on and see if the error goes away... try some chipquick solder. can buy off ebay so you can have some time to play with it and get it in to place.

you need to find a new cap. and fix that smd. you can check the mosfets with a multi-meter. i do believe RDC has a pinout of the power points and standby points. i believe the usb1 and usb2 mosfets are the main 2 for the power.

i had a 360 do similiar. and i could turn it on it would rrod and the ANA chip would get hot as hell. nothing else. i now use it as parts..

xbox-expert has the 870uf 6.3v. but not the 2200uf 6.3v.. i can see if i got one and ill let you have it. or maybe rodent i will check
