[HELP NEEDED] 2 Color LED for RF Module
« on: May 12, 2012, 11:25:55 AM »
I have a 2 color LED that is white and red. I am trying to connect it to the RF module but ran into an issue. The RF Module has 3 connections, 1 positive and 2 negatives (1 for player {green} and 1 for error {red}). The positive connection from the RF Module has to go to the corresponding color on the LED and the negative connection has to go to the main common pin on the LED. Below is a picture for reference. PLEASE HELP!

Oh I see the LED has 2 positives but the RF module has 2 negatives. I don't see anyway around it apart from buying an led with 2 negatives. but some bright spark might think otherwise.

Only problem with that is none of the online stores tell you if they are positive or negative leads. None of my local stores sell LEDs with white and red so I don't know what to do. If anyone can link me to a site that would be great. Best thing would be if someone can figure out a way to use my current LEDs.

I have seen some people do this instead :)
with 0603
http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/Ring-of-light-color-mod.htm

Use the same method for the 2nd led (error one)

but I wouldn't place the leds on their sides I would place them flat :)

I am doing a custom case so there is wires coming off the RF Module connecting to the LEDs in order to extend it so that's why I wan't to do this. I guess I will just have to choose between white or red.

1st option :
get White and and Red LED separate not together Since the Bio Color You have Has Common Ground .. or find the Right Bio Color that have + Common

2nd Option :
If don;t know how to Find them What Size Bio Color Would you like ..  3mm ,5mm, 603 smd , 805 or 1206 and i find you some.

3rd option :
Use a Pic and RGB  so now you have access to all 7 color when see Low on Green ROL points you can have Pic Show White which turns RED+Green+Blue
when it see Low on Red ROL Points  than shows Red or what ever.

Now 3rd should be last option since its way more Install Time but its Something Diff you can change any color you want once a week .
the easy way would be to find you the right Bio Color Led or save Time and just Use 2 led

there is one White and RED with Common Anode :

Thank you for the help. If you could find me a 5mm Bi-color LED that I can get and is located in the US that would be great. I would do the PIC but that would mean I would have to have multiple chips per LED which would just be frustrating.
