EDIT: Final update

My controller is complete!

Features

Wired controller bottom shell, no battery compartment
Internal battery and charger
Both rumbles kept
Topbuzz ABXY Flasher
ABXY LED buttons
PS3 D-Pad

1. Any controller will be admitted. PSP and other portable systems will not be allowed.

2. Judging will be by nominated admin panel.

3. Entrants can use their real names (no restrictions like our main contests)

4. You must show a work log, with your name and date written on paper and visible in the pictures. (digitally imposed date and name will not be accepted) You must submit a starting pic of an UNMODDED controller and a final video of the controller functioning correctly.

Well maybe I was mistaken, however I believe it would be more creative if you started with a blank canvas if you will. but this is my 1st mod off, so I guess i shouldn't say anything. sorry if i was out of line.
What do you plan on doing to it?

rules are pretty simple no cheating this is why you have to provide a worklog so you can show proof of your build
other then that seriously we do what we do because we dont follow the rules lmao

I got this cheap knock off ps3 controller, I dont own a ps3 I just needed the D-Pad.







it fits perfectly, now I just need to cut out the pcb from the ps3 controller and fit it under the d-pad.

I really like how you fitted that and really like what your doing there... Now question is are you going to use the PS3 buttons also where the abxy go?

nope, im going to do LED ABXY buttons, the buttons I got with the ps3 controller are poop

I cut out the dpad from the chinese ps3 controller and wired it up to the controller to test it out





Superglued a piece of breadboard to secure it



Im still waiting on parts to show up before I can do anything else.. stay tuned

thanks man, I havnt tested it in game yet. But the buttons have a good feel to them.

Im going to put the controller in a wired shell, and have an internal battery. I ordered the battery and charger from DX so ill be waiting a while.

in past mod off , already modded controllers could be used, they jsut had to be stripped on all mods before hand....

i entered a mod off with a modded pad.. it did only have a rol change on it... but i whipped those leds out and stuck a different set in there...


and yes this pad so far looks wicked... i love the ps d-pad change a much more functional d-pad then the 360's one...

This is the charger im using, I swapped out that resistor to bring down the charge rate from 1c to 580mah



here it is charging the battery, it says 1000mah on the side of it but reading the reviews on DX the actual capacity is around 600mah. thats why I swapped that resistor.



now I have a good excuse to play some BF3 to see how long it will last/how long it takes to fully charge

Im leaving it as it is, i like the red and white. I have just finished painting a small piece of plastic for the USB jack to sit in, I will post an update later tonight

I tested it just before I was about to close it up and call it done, and up/down on the d-pad aren't working... so Im going to have to pull it out and see if the wires are still connected. I will do that another day.

I havnt had much time to work on this.. Ive fixed the dpad, no wires were disconnected, it must have just been the rubber pad not making contact with the button.

here is how ive managed to fit the battery in keeping both rumbles, I used a dremel to grind down the back of the trigger assembly and mounted the light rumble backwards, it only just clears it.
