Help with Wii U Controller Stick Board
« on: January 02, 2014, 11:34:43 AM »
Hi guys

A friend of mine carried his console to a shop becuase the stick didn´t work right (I don´t know why he didn´t made use of the warranty). After a few days the shop gave him the console back and told him that they couldn´t fix it.

We decided to fix it and once we opened it we realized the PCB was damaged. Here are two pics:

I have tried to find a replacement with no luck :(

Do you know if there is any place to get it? becuase i don´t know if it would be possible to make a pcb for it

Thanks in advance

It wouldnt be that hard to fix the board if you had the new stick.

Clean it up as best you can.

Install the new Stick and anything that doesn't work (the Y-Axis for sure isn't going to) wire it up directly to the connector.

1 - Ground
2 - X-Axis
3 - Voltage
4 - Y-Axis
5 - Stick Button

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

Thanks for the replies guys.

RDC these pins are of the conector but I would have to know what are in the stick. I just have to follow the traces right?

Yes, follow the traces, it's all right there.

Ok, the last question I have its about Voltage, what's the point in the pcb? (I can't see it in the picture and i don't have the pcb here now)

No idea what that means.

It's pin 3 on the connector. Look at both sides of the PCB and follow the traces thru the Vias, can even do it from the pics.

In this side this would be the points (I believe GROUND would go where I mark)

But VOLTAGE would go on the other side to the PCB?

1 is Ground
3 is Voltage

The same as they were when I first replied.

Going by that picture
POT on the Left - Top is Voltage, Middle is Axis, Bottom is Ground.
POT on Top - Left is Ground, Middle is Axis, Right is Voltage.

That's exactly how it is. They just use traces on both sides of the PCB to do it.
