PS Vita Battery Port help!!!
« on: November 26, 2013, 12:07:39 AM »
hi guys! I bought a used PS Vita with what I thought was a broken battery for $71 shipped.
I was right on the money and the only thing I had to replace was the battery. I had an extra working battery, but I ended up ripping off the connector (stupid stupid stupid) I tried to super glue it but it was no good...

My question is: can I solder the battery on to the board permanently with the black white and red wires directly to the board. the first solder point (the one I am touching with my tool in the Picture) came off with a chunk of the green PCB board about the size of the metal solder... does this mean the board is useless? also, are the two solder points on the bottom important (the right half is missing) or do they just hold the connector in place?

You are in luck my friend. the pad you ripped just mounts the clip to the board. that clip can be purchased online its a common battery clip. But you can directly solder the battery to the solder pads below the clip if needed. If you need more help message me.

if you are good with a soldering iron, then just solder it on.
Otherwise buying another battery will fix this solution.

take the guess work out and just buy another battery. really not that expensive on ebay. But if you want to do it yourself, then just solder each wire to the point to the mother board or make your own connector.

Don't jack the thread! Make your own thread topic. But to answer your question, maybe not since you pulled a pad already.

While trying to take unplug battery cable, I pulled off the white plastic battery seat, or is it called pad??

Am I screwed? Anyway to fix? I don't mind learning how to solder, but I don't know how to attach the white pad back to the motherboard :(

Help & Thx... Btw, a Google search brought me here, that's why I didn't create new thread.. It's still relevant.

Plz help, my 3yo son is crying about it.

Aslong as the connections are still there either replace the plastic piece or solder right to the plug connections. if you have pulled the pads off the pcb, then if your confident enough you could trace the lead and scrape down the pcb very gently and solder to the lead. if indeed the second then it wont be easy but can and has been done.

Thanks for your response, if you look at 2 post above mine.. That guy posted pics, that's exactly what Happend, the part that sits on the board came off :(

I went ahead & bought new vita slim, but still would love to somehow fix this original one (if possible)

post up pictures of your board. if all the pads are still there, then you can solder to them.

like I mentioned earlier, bought a new vita in the meantime for my son, first thing I noticed is the screen is a huge downgrade... The dark rich colors of the original will be missed :(

I removed the memory card from broken vita & inserted it into the new vita slim.. Slim didn't recognize it. I then tried using a mem card from my vitaTV & it detected it. So looks like while I had pulled the cable & pad I also somehow managed to fry the memory card lol (guess I should've taken it out prior to trying to fix the battery, duh).

So now I'm starting to think I really killed my original 3G vita.

I'll post pics, at this point I have nothing to lose.
