dangerous temps...

when im running my computer my temps are always regulated...but when im in my game the fans definitely kick in

whats a bad temp you dont wanna be at? in crysis it stays between 78-81 is that bad? if so i should change my fan settings right?

that is fairly hot 50's is fairly normal but crysis is a very intense game and will make your system work

Thats a hot processor.  you don't want to go past 60°C.  That is critical point of most processors roughly.  There are others that can take more abuse but that is a good number to go with.  I would get a new heatsink and fan.   you could change the fan speed on the fan but I don't think it would help much with that kind of heat.

i have a macbook pro so i cant change those things


though they are known for being rather toasty...
i havent had problems so far, but i should still change the fan temps?

where do i do that... i have atitools to overclock and nTune for my geforce 8600m gt

Hmmm... a laptop at those temps... can't be good. try the fan speed changeing though it may not help.

yeh macbook pros get hot - be thankful you dont have a first gen like i do - im currently only on msn and the web and my cpu temp is at 61 C

laptops are desined to handle higher temps.  (mobile technology only)  Macbooks all have intel moible  technology.  I would see if you can access the bios and change it there.  I'm dumb with macs so don't know how you can. you might have to do some research.  on PC you have to hit del, or F2 before it starts to get into the bios.  could be the same way for them. I'd ask my sister (she has one for Graphic design) but she doesn't get home till next week.  That's my guess

i wouldnt do anything, if it breaks, apple are really good with customer care.

yeh apple are very good - if your worried take it to an apple genius session and ask them about it. also macs dont use BIOS's they use efi

are you talking about CPU temps or GPU temps???

why not get a laptop cooler (fan thing that the laptop would sit on)

or... underclock your gpu alittle and minimize background programs

GPU temps...i actually overclock a tiny bit with ATiTools so i can play crysis real nice like (on my windows partition)

ive been doing this for over a week, and ive also been playing other games that seem to get it just as toasty without any problems

and apple is good with customer care...and i do have apple protection plan (3 years).... its been handling 81 really well

i actually think i've felt it (i check the top left above the speaker and that top bar above the keyboard for heat) a lot hotter before, like burning my finger, but when i have played it recently even with this overclocking and i do a finger heat test it certainly does not scald at all...


man i love tis thing, maybe its just built to take the heat...

went i play cod 4 i normally get 65 - 70 is that good?

i'd say yeah, but then again, im no expert....

though i am happy now! i found a way for my comp to run cooler when i play so its like 75 about
since i have fan control in OSX, i just reboot and boot in windows (i used to turn off [cut off power] and reboot) but apparently it still has that applied when the power remains and its just a reboot... nice i dont feel so bad when i play now, knowing its a bit cooler


edit: scratch that, it only runs cool in window mode, in fullscreen it goes 84 f**k degrees again >

Good to know.  I just talked to one of my buddies about that and he said they don't have bios they have something else.  guess I could study up on some mac stuff

for my computer its at around 100 it gets dangerous
this thing has never touched 90
so i think im safe... phew
