I wont be online more frequently here
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:53:13 PM »
The reason for this, ive just met another guy, hes actually got an interesting life story, he lives with hes dad, his mum ran away and just before she did, she abused the heck outa him, now hes actually dyslexic and hes a coder, web designer and entrepeuner, he owns 4 companys and hes only 17, he makes about £2,000 a week, and he wants me to work with him now. But this means, well ill be making about £400 a week, thats about £20,800 a year, without any bills, so, as you know, thats alot of money for a 13 year old. And ill be going around London and others (eg NY) for business trips, and when im not doing business deals, ill be working, being a web designer and coder. He sees potential in me, to be a huge entrepeuner. Yay me!

So, i wont be around much, but at the start (well now to 4 months) i will still be around a bit, just about half as much as i am usally. In about 4 months time, if all goes well, ill be only on AM for about an hour a week, and if it carries on getting more serious, I wont be able to go on acidmods, ever, only maybe that once a month sorta thing. Or when im ill etc.

Wish me luck, the guy is a millionaire, and he said that if i do a really good job, he will permenantly hire me for a part time job during weekends, after school and holidays. Making about £40,000 a year.

Crazy eh?

So, as i said, wish me luck he likes my work! But if he doesnt, then there goes my next chance of being rich and famous (this will be the second lol)

P.S: Ill be on msn more than on AM, due to me having to speak to clients on there. But if u need me to speak 2 u on MSN, if its not that important, dont say it, if its a bit important, or if its some advice, anything to do with web design, your more than welcome to ask (Aricado, dont worry about bothering me if you need help with design, im here to help, dont hesitate) but if its something like *fufa porn or lolcates, even... applesauce, then tell me when my status is NOT busy.

I know that this is going to sound harsh, but please bear with me.  I hate being a wet towel but there's some inconsistencies with this story.

1) Dyslexia isn't caused by an accident, anyone who tells you it is LYING.  Dyslexia has a VERY STRONG genetic component to it.
2) Some dyslexics have difficulty with pictures and images as well as letters.
3) Things that just seem too good to be true, REALLY ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

I'm just incredibly suspicious about the nature of his "business", secondly you're considered underage to be working.  According to Charter of Human rights, you're considered still as a child and participating in child labor.  Not to mention you will also be compromising your own education by being that busy.

It's all just simply too fishy for me to really believe in it to be true.  I mean what significant skills do you bring to him that another individual can't?  I'm sure there's dozens of university grads, or other highly motivated individuals that will love to compete for that job and also be paid less for it.  What makes you so special and at such a young age?

Are you a programming prodigy?  What will you be *doing* working for him?  How long are you working for?

I'm sorry if I come off as being very jaded, but there are so many people that go missing or are abused or sold into slavery like this.

What I'm trying to tell you is, it just sounds too unbelievable.  I'm hard pressed to find a single individual making that much money programming ALONE and making that much money.  I mean working on my own site which has been running for several years has taken the efforts of several individuals working on 1 project.

Basically if you're telling me that some 17 year old develops, owns and runs 4 sites, makes millions of dollars in a year, I'd like you to prove it.

One of my friends here in Edmonton is the owner of Nexopia and he was considered a programming prodigy.  Although his site is successful and popular, it's very difficult to operate all alone, at the least he had friends design the skins and helped test codes.  It took him a long time to get it up and running, a difficult feat to do for just 1 site let alone to have 4 of them.

If he truly is who he claims, where's the documentation of it?  Something, anything.  A newspaper sniping, a tv interview.  Innovators especially prodigies and millionaires get recognized and attention.  Where does this person live?  Is it an ocean side villa or does this person refuse to let you ever see their home?  Does this person drive at all or take the bus (let me guess, he's trying to support mother nature by taking the bus everywhere).  How does he dress?  (If the answer is "I like to blend in with ordinary people" comes up at all, think suspicious).  I mean if he truly is as successful as he claims he is, ask him questions regarding his business or his education in the matter.

Like "what kind of platform does your site run on?", "how is the load on your servers?  BTW what kind of servers do you have and where are they located?" or "hey I'm having trouble with this line of code for this project I'm working on, can you look at it?"

If he's genuine, 100% real deal... he'll be able to answer you these questions.

I can honestly tell you that if the site you own doesn't have the words "ebay" on it, good luck being a millionaire just programming sites is next to IMPOSSIBLE.  You might be "rich" but not enough to be paying off that much unless it's for some sort of shady business.

Yes but keep this in mind:

This guy has 1 company.  The person in the thread mentioned apparently has 4 and wants a 13 year old to work for him.  I"m sure that Liam makes a lot of money but he's established the business for a long time and also has other employees as well.

I'm just an incredibly skeptical person.  I want Phenomonal to be safe.  It's not that I'm not encouraging his endeavors, I want him to succeed as best as possible but I also don't want him to be exploited.  Jobs that are too good to be true usually, especially when it doesn't involve signing some sort of contract or legal documents.

I agree with thee above, it's hard to believe people now-a-days.  I've had a lot of business deals go through me during my old job and everyone is out there to screw you.  From the most basic transactions to deals of well over 1 million dollars everyone wants to see how much they can get for their money, let alone attacking the naive through methods that are only learned from swindling people.

All I have to say is if it's true and this works out for yeah, well, that's great...  If it doesn't then I hope you don't come out for the worse.

At 17 in the UK you can learn to drive.... but still to me this seems like most things are... too good to be true

If you were signing anything, I strongly suggest that you have someone you really trust there with you just to read the contract VERY CAREFULLY especially the FINE PRINT.

I've had friends who've been screwed over because they got to travel the world, unfortunately they signed a contract saying that all expenses will come out of their paycheck.
