Crysis video card
« on: January 12, 2008, 05:43:36 PM »
Hey,

Would this card be able to play Crysis? This time it's for my cousin.

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25032&vpn=2400PRO512PESB&manufacture=Diamond&promoid=1087

Suggestions?

Thanks.

im 99% sure that it wouldnt run Crysis at anywhere near a good res, that Graphics card is horrible, its for video encoding, hence the HD Prefix.

That card is garbage. Trust me don't get it, if you want something decent get an Nvidia 8600, or an Nvidia 8800 if you can afford it, because they can get pretty expensive. Just don't get ATI lol, i personally find there products to be a hassle.

the 3800 series is good, but yeah, 8600GT or 8800GT, or a 3870

Get an 8600GT, that seems to be the best out till the 9800 Comes out

The best out is an 8800GTX or Ultra.

if you want a cheap one, 8600GT can run crysis at medium, my brother has a 8600M GT, which is worse than the 8600GT but he can still run crysis at medium

I reckon that the card would still be able to PLAY Crysis....not necessarily well. But definitely play it...

it will play it at 640 x 480 res with no AA or AF on, and all detail at low, but will look crap.

At this point in time, you should save up your money and wait for the NVIDIA 9 series cards to be released. But if you can't try an 8600 GT it should run Crysis ok, but it will run everything else nicely, and it's pretty affordable too.
