My Soldering Iron
« on: January 17, 2008, 02:29:45 PM »
My soldering iron turned brownish after 3 days of use. Is this normal or is something wrong? and it seems to not work as well as it used to.

Normal, also this has nothing to do with PSPs does it?

it won't work as well if you don't keep the tip clean. I tin the tip(melt some solder on it) after I'm done soldering. It helps keep the tip clean and it'll heat up faster for next time.
psp tilt board:
design - 90%
code   - 5% (found my code I was looking for)
testing to come soon
The idea is PvP's, I designed it with AdamThole's version as a guideline

just clean the tip, don't care about further up on the psp
you could of course not clean the tip, but it is easier to solder with a clean tip

That's common with metals that have been exposed to heat for a long period of time.  My soldering iron looks the same, my dads is brown the entire way.

Nothing new happening there.  Don't worry it's normal.
