Installing Led's in psp
« on: April 06, 2008, 09:46:55 AM »
Well I'm going for the shoulder button led mod (the one whereby you hold them down and the led is on and when you release there off) and I was wondering do you solder the resistor directly to the smt led? so it goes -----[=][LED]--------? obviously with the microswitch further down the line
also is there a tutorial about putting leds in the psp for lighting up a psp jewel?
if not does anyone have a diagram of where I would get my + and - outputs from?

If i strip some single core wire and solder it to those 2 points, could I then attach the leds to the soldered wire and then i would have a larger area to solder to? also would they still be in parallel? im thinking of having aobut 4 led's but maybe more inthe future and I dont want to have to keep going searching for points

Parallel is the most advised way to wire multiple LEDs into the PSP.

I know there supposed to go in parallel, just pointing it out as a viable solution to soldering lots of led's to 1 poer output/input

You completely misinterpreted my response.  Any multiple circuits that are run from the same power and ground points, are parallel.  So therefore making the wire add-ons as the single point for the rest of the circuits to branch off of is a parallel circuit, so yes, you can do that.

This is the wikipedia entry for DIP switches:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIP_switch

And here is the site I buy my components from, doing a search for DIP switch in Google will find you many other sites in which you can buy them:

the kind of switches I need though are for example, the kind of ones the tell the psp if there is a umd in the drive. Have you ever opened your imd drive and played with the little black lever switch? thats the one I need

Ok, then search for Snap Action Microswitch, thats the closest thing I can think of to the UMD drive microswitches...
