PsP Update
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:52:09 PM »
About the PsP update, and the rumors about the new additions. I think that the first rumor is most definetely
somewhat unrealistic. Although I also believe that some of the "expected" additions of the first rumor are most
likely not ganna happen, yet others may just make it. I'd like to point to the "PsP Store" that they were talking
about. I do believe this will eventually come, although most likely not till version 5.00. If it was to come,
(emphasis) ALOT more updates will come before that. Everything have to be upgraded and updated. Possibly
hardware items like memory sticks and hardrives will have to be upgraded to. I do look forward to the coming of this store because there will most likely be many options. For example, games will be posted there for uses of buying full
games and copying them onto memory or hardrive, uses of having trial versions where you will be allowed to play a certain amount of time or only a certain amount of the game, and there will also be demo versions, when prices are lower so you don't have to pay full price on the full game . It's easy to notice then that it won't be coming
any time soon due to the limited space and capabilities of the current PsP version/hardware  :dntknw:. The second
rumor seams more realistic and is more probable, but I don't think Sony is ganna go for anything we're expecting them
to. Hopefully it's something to be excited about .

Ok honestly, I don't know what cfw is. But my point to posting this is that we
have to realize that if there's going to be an online PsP Store, the PsP would
have to be upgraded to alot more than what it is now. For example, the firmware
would have to be updated with new capabilities so it can actually access a
store of which you'd buy games off of. Then there's hardware and software
capabilities. We all know that the hardrive space isn't big enough to store a
game unless you had a good memory card. As for software, you'd have to
upgrade it because the game codes and scripting would be different than
a normal UMD. It would be almost like trying to play a Nintendo game on the
PsP without a Nintendo Emulator. I'm just trying to point out that the store
isn't ganna be coming for quite a while.

I think Thanatose is oblivious to the PSP capabilities.

Give him a break. We were all like this at some point. A year ago I knew nothing about PSP homebrew.

Then again why is he on this site?  :eyebrow:
Shut up, I know I am a pessimist.

Ok exactly, I know what custom firmware no duh. I didn't know what cfw stood for. And what the frick is that supposed to mean? Are you imposing I don't know much about the PsP? I'll have you know that I've been working on my own mod and a new custom firmware. I'll even post it if I get the chance. And that external device is already in making, not specifically for Psp but it is capable with it. And yea, it's ganna cost a heck of alot've money. Infact I already have a external hardrive for pc but the cables connect to the psp and it turns out to work, I'm still figuring out if I can install the software onto the psp so I can actually transfer data. And please don't think I don't know crap about the Psp, I've only had one for a year but as I already said, I'm working on a new custom firmware/Mod for Psp.

Easy guys!
By the way there is already a game that can be played in the PSP under "remote play" it is Lair. So i don't see it very unrealistic, i mean the fact that more games could be played this way, though it will required both PSP and PS3 firmware updates.
 video

And well, of course you would need to change the software for playing games stored in the memory stick, but you already can play your backups in custom firmwares, so that is already done, thanks to Dark_Alex i should say. Sony would need to find a way for encrypting or validating the games you'd download in order they wouldn't work in other PSP but that is not big deal.

hmm.. i think u might have some trouble there, i once thought of doing a mod using pc software but the only way for it to work would be to recode the entire thing in a way that the psp could read it. so yea, unless you come up with a briliant idea you prroly going to have to recode the entire thing so the psp can read and run it.
