Laptop overclocking?
« on: June 15, 2008, 08:49:12 AM »
I've got a dell E1505 with an Intel C2D @ 2.00Ghz. They have it locked out in my BIOS, is there any way I can OC it?

And what's the fastest quad core cpu for overclocking? I'll have a water cooling system soon after i build my computer so heat shouldn't be a problem. So what's the BEST quad core? Both stock and overclocking. I saw someone get one up to 3.95Ghz! I heard the Q6600 and Q6700 are the best.So which out of these 2?

ALSO: Can you change CPUs on laptops?

Never overclock a cpu on a laptop

thats why its locked aswell

unless, you get a new special third party motherboard if there is one

and yes you can change cpus on MOST laptops

All Dell's except XPS have locked BIOS for OC'ing, becuase it is harmful.

Yes, i can OC my MBP using tools if i want, but it would mess up the cooling.

Of course, fiddling with the GPU Clocks in Xp is okay though...

Add to it:

Use Ntune for nvidia cards, and ati overdrive for ati cards

And at the same time the reason most dells are cheap is because their parts are at the maximum.  The CPU is locked because odds are it won't go any higher anyways
