try it on another psp to confirm its your psp. im pretty sure its your battery though. its probably gotten old and its loosing its charge memory. its about time to get a new battery. and when you do remember to drain the battery down untill you get the warning that the battery is low. then charge it. dont just keep on charging it thats what makes them not last long. good luck

might be a problem with the power connector on the mobo. if thats not connecting as it should then that could cause the problem. but it really does sound like a battery problem.

you could try just letting your psp sit for a week or so with no battery and it may reset itself. Then at the end of the week put in a nice freshly charged battery and see if the problem persists. My camera had a similar problem.

it's hard for us to resolve the problem as we can't see the psp. it's like asking a mechanic to find a problem with a car over the phone. Very hard. you have two options, 1) buy a new mobo or 2) buy a new psp. :)

The only way to fix this kind of problem is to set two PSP side by side and take measurements on them both.

One as the reference and one as the problem that you are trying to fix.

If you have a mutlimeter and a logic probe you could trace it. Check at points on a system that works and compare to the system that doesnt.

You may find the signal is fine all the way into one of the major chips on the motherboard and there is nothing to do but replace the motherboad.

I am not saying to replace the motherboard without knowing what is wrong, just that it could be that.

Like you said it may just be a bad diode and all you have to do is replace it. The diodes used in the system are very common and easily obtained.

Or you can sell it as it is and let someone else deal with it while you buy a new one.
