Psp won't boot properly

Hey just recieved my psp from some guy from ebay. Everything seems to work, but when I boot it up, 3/4 of the time the xmb won't load and only the background shows. Then it seems to hang there, and you can't turn it off unless you take the battery out. I can still access the m33 xmb menu but it doesn't seem to do anything... Any solutions?

you should try a pandora's battery on it. that should take care of anything on the software side.  If it still doesn't work then it's a hardware issue

Yea I pandoraed it like 3 times already. I even tried using a flash 0 backup, which I think bricked it, but then I pandoraed it again and it' still like that.

then it's not the software that's the problem, it's the hardware. open it up an check all the connections and see if they are in all the way and put it back together and try again.

Alright thanks... I think I'm gonna do that like next week... I think I'm gonna buy some screwdrivers first.

It's most likely a hardware problem, but I may be correct in saying it could be an idStorage problem.

you should try all software methods before opening up the psp, because no matter how many times you open it up and put it back together it still won't work unless it's software is fixed.

I agree sounds like and IDStorage problem, though I've never had any direct dealings with them it sounds like a good direction to go in.......

I would definately try Dax's Time Machine... From what I understand it will boot a PSP on 100% corrupt firmware... If that works IDStorage is your issue.... and is a 7 out of 10 in difficulty to fix......
but from what I have read it can be done....

Worst case scenario brick it, then cry to paypal or ebay and they will reimburse you 90% or ask for a refund or part it out....

Alright so it boots fine in TM. Also, it's very weird that it'll boot normally like once every like 5 tries.... I'm very curious as to what is making it only half work. Also, anybody know how to fix the IDstorage keys? I know they are supposed to be unique for every psp but I also know that there are some that are universal... How would I restore those?

edit: I think it's more than likely not IDstorage keys because I can easily access internet, also I'm pretty sure no IDstorage key is needed for system bootup.... Correct me if I'm wrong. And besides, if it was really corrupted, then how would I be able to still boot up every once in a while?

double edit: Hmm seems that sometimes when I use CTF it won't boot properly either.... Also when I start games it will hang at the gameboot sometimes.

edit again: Another weird thing. the M33 network update is gone, along with Gomessenger. However, when I use a CTF it's all there. Strange.....

Will it boot with the UMD Drive Open?
With no UMD in?
With a UMD in?

Haven't tried any of that because the UMD drive doesn't work, I believe.

Also, when I access my flash1 through USB, it's empty except for folder structure and like 3 files.
