Window mod

This is probably a stupid question but i was wondering about when i go to cut the window in my case on the inside of the case there is a big sheet of metal.  Should i just cut through it or should i get rid of it?  Will getting rid of it cause my 360 any harm.  Also do you think i should give the talismoon kit a try or do it myself.

It's an rf shield. It's ok to remove it.

Also, Directron sells a pc window kit which would work great for the 360. Here's green: http://www.directron.com/winkitgreen.html . They have other colors, too.
