changing OS ***help please***

Yo, im running xp pro right now 32bit. i want media center without loosing any of my music/data. Isit possible? Media center is so cool with my xbox :P lol.

So you want Windows XP Media Center Edition? If so, I don't think you can without formating the hard drive. You can dual boot it if you want to though.

i wouldn't recommend running both OS at once it slows down your computer alot, and if you want to get rid of your old OS then you have to format your HDD, which would delete all your info/programs/music/everything. so back up all the stuff you what to keep, format your HDD , and then install your new OS.

Dosent it have an upgrade option? like when you go from xp to vista you have the upgrade option so you keep all your data!

Yeah, i think media center is the only OS that doesnt allow an upgrade. And 2 OS's on a dual boot doesnt really slow your puter down. It just eats alot of HDD space. I recommend the Dual Boot. I have one, WinXP32 and WinXP64.

you can just overwrite the operating system files without deleting all your stuff i have done that many times before so i cannot see why that wouldnt work with this. in the options when you start installing it you can choose to reformat or just replace operating system
