New Sleeper not as good as 3 wire for Halo 3
« on: August 17, 2008, 11:05:40 PM »
Is anyone having any luck with the new Sleeper and Halo 3? It works... but not as good as the 3 wire.

This is the story. I have a friend who wanted a mod installed that'll work for H3. I programmed a 12f683 with the 3 wire free hex that was posted here awhile back. I works great for H3, but I'm not going to give it to him as the free hex was said to have a 1000 use limit. So I was just about to order a 3 wire from WiredInput when the new Sleeper was announced. So I ordered 4 of the new Sleepers because they are suppose to work as good as the 3 wire for H3. But no such luck.

I've been at this all day. I have 3 controllers, all Matrix, that I used for testing. I've used fresh batteries and recharge packs. I've wired using both the power saver and the normal diagrams. I've used different +/- points. The Sleeper still has that little studder with the guns. Where it's really noticeible is when you're shooting from the Ghost. The free 3 wire mod shoots faster than a regular trigger pull. But with the Sleeper, it's about the same as having the Sleeper off, and like with the guns, it sputters.

So I figured that I'd just order a 3 wire from WI. My friends controller already has a switch installed, so it's no big deal.

Ahhh... but they aren't available anymore.

So does anyone have any advice, or can I still get the 3 wire mod from somewhere?

I have the same problem here. As for the 1000 Limit try a IC Socket.  That would be the only way around or wait until the Open source RF is finished.

Just...just a hunch.

Sorry about that. I should have been clearer. It was the free 12f683 hex that was posted in another thread. It's for a 3 wire mod. I do believe that it is the same code that's used for the 3 wire mod that WiredInput sold, but with a usage limit.

I do use an IC socket on my controller, but I'm modding a friends controller, and he's paying me for the mod. It would be easy for him to drop by so I could reprogram his chip. But to be honest, I don't want to make money off something which isn't intended for resale. I'd just rather pay someone for their work if I'm going to accept cash for using it in my work.

We appreciate your work, Mike.

For now, would I be able to "special order" one of your old 3 wire mods for a Matrix board? I'd like to buy it right now if I could.
