ReadyBoost- Some Questions
« on: September 04, 2008, 08:00:29 PM »
i effectively have, now, 2 spare 1 GB flash drives (considering i finally got the 8gb one) and was wondering about readyboost for vista

my questions:

do i need it constantly plugged in?

can i still use it for thumbdrive data? like files of my own, etc?

does my system need it? (its pretty fast...5.3 index score)

will it improve gaming perfomance? (that being a biggy, as crysis can lag occasionally even though i managed to tame it to a playable 24 FPS[still lookin' fine w/ heavy motion blur], yet oblivion, runs fine, though i wouldn't mine upping the res to make it looking more fine.. at full 1440x900 i only get like 50 fps.. and compared to 640x480 it, in the very least, seems laggy (though... 30 is average, no?)

thanks and much appreciated, take your time on answering, i'm in no particular rush

Yes.

Uhm. I don't think you can. It uses it as, like, a more RAM kinda thing, right? I don't know if it lets you use it normally. It might though. I'm unsure.

Probably not.
will it improve gaming perfomance?
No.

it only would show significant gains on a 64bit platform and a memory intensive app
