power problem

i think this is more of a software issue more than a hardware issue. when i switch my psp off/or put it on sleep the green flashes for ages then it slays on for about 4 secs then switches off completely. on top of that i can't seem to update it to 5.00m33 it gets to 92% done then it says "the update failed. contact technical support for assistance. (FFFFFFFE). then it bricks itself. help!
