Hey all,
I have been trying to decide for about a month if I should get an iphone 3G(16GB) or the t-mobile G1,
I dont care about service because It would be unlocked anyway(I use t-mobile)
I dont mind paying for either, I have been saving
So please submit your vote
or post a comment because I really cant decide

Also color does not matter to me!

To be honest I'd never heard of the G1 before I read this topic and it seems superior, and looks better imo

iam also having this same struggle.When my contract with sprint ends at the end of this month im getting one of those, but probably g1 because it is open source and will have way way more features then iphone after a few months. Iphone also cant even do picture text msgs. how dumb! I have to admit it is hard to say not to how the iphone looks though. Im pretty sure ima get the g1 also the company with g1 is has a plan for it with the same stuff as at&t that is 20$ cheaper a month.

I have no idea about the G1. I have a 3G iphone though and they're :censored:ing great. Managed to sort out a load of website problems whilst at vfestival this year, also have a good chunk of music with me at all times and it's oh so pretty...

i find depsite the OS, that the G1 is a very unattractive and blocky, giant SOB

i say iphone, as its OS is still pretty slick, nice apps, etc.

I got to say looks arent everything. other tend to not be near as appealing as apple products which is why so many people love apple, but apple uses its looks to make up for the horrible tech support, functionality, and quality of there products. The g1 i know doesnt look as nice, but cmon OpEn SoUrCe

After 6 months of the g1 being released there will be so many apps for the g1 it will be unbeleivable. The base stats of the g1 are already better, but with open source it is limitless

I bought mine off my cousin he hates t-mobile so he sold it to me for 275 lol

its actually not a linux OS linux is for motorola (my old A1200r had linux 2.6) the G1 phones OS is called android. now there is like 20 or so apps for it. give it a month or two for the apps to multiply. and the keyboard on the G1 is FTW, the ipohne has the crappy on screen KB, and it doesnt vibrate when you touch a letter.

G1 FTW!

Also the Iphone is is 2.0 or higher (Since i last checked) And the G1 is on 1.0.... The G1 for the win if its better than the iPhone now when it hits 2.0 its gonna Dominate the iPhone so badly... Honestly the iPhone was good when it first came out but the Android G1 is the new, and Yes google.... All the apps = free Bar code scanner, Street maps, and way more.. to many to list because as long as people invent apps they will be free for the G1.

I am getting a G1 soon, But its your choice XD

I agree with StealthedHunter G1 seems alot better. Apple has nice GUI and stuff it also has very good apps, but they also block certain apps because they dont like it, like Opera Browser.

I really don't know which is better. I'm more familiar with the iPhone because I have an iPod touch which is pretty similar with jailbreaking, free apps, cracked apps, etc. The iPhone's appearance is also better than the thick and clunky G1. However, it lacks a lot of modern features a top-of-the-line phone should have like a higher res. camera that can record video (though there are apps in Cydia that allow video recording). It also lacks pix/flix messaging, expandable memory via microSD cards, and strong built-in speakers for speakerphone. I heard that the G1 has a 3.2 megapixel camera though it cannot record video. I also heard that it's a bit awkward typing because the keys don't stick out enough and that the base of the phone gets in your hands way. Still they're both good phones with capabilities similar to those of a cheap laptop with good games, fair graphics, etc. If price/region availability wasn't an issue, I'd get the HTC Touch HD. It has a 5 megapixel camera, 800x480 screen, up to 32 GB microSD memory, front camera for video confrence, and windows mobile 6.1 os.

They all have their good points, I'm with i32, I bought a Touch Pro.

The iPhone has too many drawbacks and purposeful flaws..

The G1 is currently heavily being worked on, and will be much better soon, If I had to pick one or the other, I'd go with a G1
