i think if you get a new xbox and do the x-clamp replacement it decreases the chance of getting the RROD greatly. I did that to mine and I'm still goin

Do the x-clamp replacement and the 12v fan mod and it should last longer.

chack the power supply, the jasper unit starts at lot #0845, I am reading here, your xbox was definatly not a jasper

above where it reads made in china, there is another line and string of numbers, it should look like   12v-xx,xA-1a, the xx,x part is what you are looking for that is the only garunteed way to tell if its a jasper.

supposedly the failure rate of a jasper board in on par with acceptable industry standards.....whatever that crap means.  probably means like %3 instead of the astronomical failures of the first couple boards they shipped.

Since RROD can be a hardware failure of many different components within the system it doesnt mean that they havnt done better with the 0102 failure that most of the RROD systems suffer.

Skull is probably right, pre RROD xclamping should help with the older boards, I however like the warm fuzzy feeling the warranty gives me

oficial releace for xbox states that the jasper will reduce the rrod signifigantly, but probably not end it completly. the jasper runs at much lower temps
system idle--jasper=89 deg; xenon=111 deg
disk running--jasper=92 deg; xenon=114 deg

microsoft also released a statment saying the jasper is not the final revision. they  state that the "final revision will be released this fall called the Valhalla, this will combine the cpu and gpu into one 45 nm chip"
