SAKE! MY :censored:ING SOLDERING IRON! I'VE ONLY USED IT A FEW TIMES AND ITS ALREADY :censored:ING BROKE. WTF HAS HAPPENED?!?!?!?! .

/Angry bit.

As you can see I am extremly annoyed. I bought a soldering iron off of eBay (bad move) and after only using it no more than 10 times it dies on me. I think it's just the tip but still!

What do you mean "died" and why didn't you buy one from a local electronics store (dunno what electronics stores are in uk) instaed of ebay? Probably cheaper anyway.

Maplin is the best we got, so I'll go there after my birthday.

I just realised how much of a dumbass I'm going to look. But I just need a new tip. Still annoying though. It's only heating right at the top where the tip is screwed in or however the hell it's joined lol.

Yeah canada's not so good either. Ever consider buying one from the Acidmods store? That's where I got mine, and I've completed a bunch of practice soldering, finished a psp and a sixaxis controller and it's still kicking

Dont buy soldering stations from maplins... buy them from rapid or farnell (if they sell them)

Just dont go with maplins, theire way overpriced plus I bought a £60 soldering station there, and the tips dont even tin, and they supposedly sell tips (Says in its description) but when U take the 2 hour journey there turns out they think your crazy because you want soldering iron tips and some resistors... stupid staff

I always order from there, 100x better than maplin

I wish they would stop shutting down shops like woolworths and soon to be currys and shut down maplins, overpriced cheap chinese made dealextreme like (But 100x the price) products

Plus it takes me ages to get there by bus because the mayor doesnt care about other boroughs, only stratford since the olympics and all that crap is happening there

also the tfl is quite dumb, they make everybody wait about 2 hours for a freakin bus, when their supposed to be like at 30 mins each, then when its 2 hours, they send 4 at the same time, and they follow each other, and to make it even more dumber, only one opens its doors, the other 3 are constantly empty

big companys in the uk are ran by idiots

another note, i doubt they will finish the building works for 2012, i saw it today, looks like they havent even started, and its less than 3 years away, plus, you know british builders... "We will have it done by 3 months"... 5 years later "Done, and you owe us 20x what we quoted you"

I have an idea to why we are losing our sort of shops and why most of them don't exist. They don't have that big a market and most of us are so lazy we get it from the internet, giving these sorts of company's less sales, which means they have to jack the price up to make anywhere near a profit.

Wow life sounds like it sucks in the UK O_O I think the US is definitely the best for all consumers... Plenty of businesses, stores, convenience, etc. Canada is okay but some of the major stores aren't around and things are much more expensive than the US for no reason.

It's not all bad, just this situation with the economy has taken a huge blow to the UK.Why do we have so much tax? Free healthcare. We have some good and bad aspects just like america or canada. It just so happens to be worse than america and canada lol.

Healthcare still sucks here, i had to wait 10 hours just to see a doctor to check If i had diabetes

a good way to test for the HYPERglycemia one is to simply poor some blood on pancakes. Tastes the same as usual pancakes, you have diabetes

the main reason that is is because our healthcare system is way overstretched (the GP surgery my dads in has 4 doctors and 8000-10000 patients) doctors and nurses are asked to do so much for what they get paid - i know it still a reasonable wage but most work a 60+hour week.

yeh i buy all my stuff of the internet but it isnt because of the prices its because on the internet the product page tells me everything i want to know about what im buying and there are pleanty of customer reviews which are honest and havnt been paid for like the adverts where people say i bought TV X from retailer Y and i love it. last time i whent into a shop and asked a question i got a really blank look i asked whats the difference between 720p and 1080p and the guy said 1080 is bigger i was like what sort of answer is that. another time i when in with my mum to get a case for my sisters camera the day before she whent skiiing and i was looking at the dslr's and a woman came up and started looking as well as she wanted one for here husband for xmas so the clerk came to talk to her and she was asking questions but the clerk didnt know the answers and was speeling a load of BS so i just had to but in and take over even though i didnt work there - they wernt to pleased even though the woman bought the camera and asked me to leave.

if you can find one, get a butane fired soldering gun. i use the same one i got from radio shack about 2 yrs ago, and its still goin strong. also heats up faster than and Xbox 360.

I Like butane soldering irons, although the only problem they need alot of butane refills, and being under 18 its incredibly hard for me to get butane refills

Lol, they get to 300 degrees celcius a few seconds faster than a 360 (Joke, dont flame me....)
