Quick Tech Question...
« on: April 16, 2009, 08:24:21 PM »
I ordered a little pack of .5 watt speakers (about same as PSP) and just to test since I couldn't actually open my PPS to solder directly to the audio points on a mobo. So I got a cut 3.5mm audio cable cut it, then soldered my speaker - to the black wire, then the + to the red wire and white wire (L and R). When I tried it on my sis's ipod and my PSP and PC it wasn't NEAR as loud as the PSP or ipod touch speakers.. so I got to thinking is the HEADPHONE port (which I was trying to use) resisted inside the portable device? (of any kind with an audio port) I was thinking the audio signal would be so people don't blow their ears up if they were dumb enough to turn it all the way up (which would still blow your ears). So is the headphone jack on portable devices resisted below the actual audio signal that would come from the audio spot on the mobo?

Yep.

The speaker contacts pump out way more electricity than any headphone jack.

Sorry about not giving you more detail earlier, when you asked me, but common sense would tell you that speakers are definitely louder than headphones, and so therefore headphones shouldn't have as much current going through them.

Sig by Kenshinffx - Thanks!
