Case Swap problems...
« on: April 01, 2009, 02:44:00 PM »
Gah did a case swap, and first of all, I have to say... GOD I HATE RIBBON CABLES! I killed like 5 of those things already. It seems that everytime I pry the triggers off the case I end up breaking it. So when I go into text entry or something, the busted ribbon cable spams the trigger. Also, it might be the case, but whenever i put pressure right under the screen near the home bar, the part of the screen directly above that turns black from the pressure, like if you were to have a calculator and you pressed hard on the screen. I THEN lost a screw... Damn I suck lmao.

Anyway, anybody got a good way of removing ribbon cables from the psp, and anybody have any ideas for fixing the case problem with the screen?

Thanks,
Bustin

Damn... Oh well, I'll just buy more :(. For the right cable where it's like completely stuck to the psp I think I will definitely break it :(... On the plus side, I fixed this blacking out problem I had.

Yeah I never have problems with the connectors, just be careful and do it slowly when you do it. If it makes you feel better you can use tweezers lol.

idk I guess it's cause I pry under them with a screwdriver, which for one is sharp, and also I'm not doing it particularly carefully. Next time, i'll peel them  up, and not pry them off.

The datasheets for these connectors strongly advise against the use of tools such as tweeers to open the clips - So use your fingers.

To be honest, I don't understand how you can break the connectors either? Unless you have a spasm halfway through lifting up/rotating the clip

idk it's not even the clip, It's when I peel it off the psp. I've taken them in and out of connectors loads of times without breaking them. It's when I decided to peel the triggers off the psp that I run into problems...
