well here she is...

soz for bad quality, from my phone.
i need to increase the ram... 256mb...
more hard drive space
and i need to make the case more.... flashy, i would prefer to add to this and not buy a new case

i'd prefer to make do with what i've got atm

Yea dude you never know how much you can get out of it. Post it on ebay for like 10 days and start out the bidding at like $450 or something. W/e you wanna do

i'm not sure about building my own pc as i've never done it before
i thought upgrading this a bit would help me when i later build my own.
this would be more for learning and stuff

got 74 gb of memory
but i think i only got 4 gb left :/
i've deleted prety much everything and run a disk defragmenter still only 4gb left

yeh i think i'll get some new memory
probs 1 tb
either tht or just save up for a laptop :/

save up for a new laptop, that thing ia OLD,
that ram is so old,that hardrive is only worth about 8$,the p4 mobo is old and dosnt have support of anything anymore,Im willing to bet that power suply is about 150 watts making it old,as graphix cards today suck around 200 watts of that power supply

Besides, it's not so much the RAM as it is the type and speed of the RAM.

Well if you were running that many programs on 256 mb of ram you can deff run it on 2gb.

if i tried to run more than msn a firefox on that computer it would explode :P
any advice for a laptop? cheap but not rubbishly bad
one that'll last me a while

This does not need 4 GB of RAM. I would recommend 2 GB if you're running Vista / Win 7 or 1 GB if you're running XP or Linux. More programs does not mean more RAM required; this is a fundamental fallacy that either your friends have misled you with or the computer industry has fooled you with.

Unless you do a lot of CAD, multimedia editing or large scale data analysis 2 GB of RAM is sufficient (2 GB at 800 MHz), anything more is good for the future, but in terms of current performance it is overkill. Especially 4+ GB

He's not wrong. If you're going from 256 MB to 2 GB you're going to see a massive speed up if you run all the programs you mentioned. But going from 2 GB to 4 Gb running the same stuff isn't going to see a big difference.
