LCD Ribbon cables
« on: April 09, 2009, 05:18:57 PM »
ok, so my lcd ribbon cable has a scratch in it (as stated a while ago), and it is causing black lines to run across the screen. What I wanted to know was, is it possible to replace the ribbon cables for the lcd?

Thanks to HiddenVenom for the sig!

Not unless you know how to solder at an almost microscopic scale. You'll need to replace the lcd. You can keep your own backlight since from what I hear it still works fine. You can get a LCD off of dealextreme for like 8 bucks I think. People say they are good quality.

Its worth a try if its only one line just scratch a spot on each side of the break and solder a wire or another FFC to the FPC on the LCD as it is damaged anyway

Not that hard..

As long as you stay low heat and get it tinned quick, it will be pretty easy.

i wish i had a LCD laying around. id cut off the bottom and do it just to rub it in :P
