Have you tried testing another memory card in your psp? if your having the same problem, then it's to do with the mobo. If not then the card is damaged.

It's possible part of the memory card slot on your slim is damaged. One of the pins connecting to the card maybe out of place. the only thing you can do is take the psp apart, check to see if any of them are out of place.

I think the easiest thing to do is plug the car directly into your PC and see if your PC reads it.

That's cool to see if the cards working, but it isn't gonna tell you much if it's the console that's damaged.
Test the card as elite said in a PC and try another card in the psp to see if you have the same problem.

My PC does read the card.
I tried a different card and it didn't read it on my PSP.
So it's the mobo?

Yeah, unfortunately. I could be your card slot on your PSP is bent, then you could get away with just replacing the card slot.

Well you can buy a replacement one from dealextreme.com. Then it's a matter of desoldering the old one and resoldering a new one.

Yes that slot should work. And the full housings aren't perfect, but they're still pretty good and they're cheap =D

Yeah you have to desolder the old one, and then resolder the new one.

Um.. do you know how to solder?

You should atleast learn to solder first. And if you don't know how to solder/desolder, you might not want to try this...

An easy way though, would be to snip off the pins of the slot, and then individually desolder each pin.

No I don't know how solder  :(
I can practice on some old mobo I have from a PSP phat.
I can just a regular solder to de-solder?
