this the first mod i soldered right!!
i just put one LED in PS button

and i put a switch on the back because i didn't know how i was going to turn it of or what ressistors to use

i got the switch from my broken zen

i think that last picture is a lil fuzzy heres a close upits a little better

so what do you guys think? :dntknw:

i know what you mean it took me like 15 minutes to put it back together cuz the R2 and L2 buttons their a little tricky

lol ya neat...i didn't have a drill so i just got a knife and started cutting into it not very professional but it kinda worked  :boxed: even though it is a little off

Nice job :) I agree with the hole being neater, but it's nice for a first mod. What led size did you use? Looks pretty bright. Is it turned on/off as the controller turns on/off, or is it only turned on/off by the switch?

i think it's a 0603 it's the really little ones and yea it only turns on with the switch i wired it straight to the battery which might be bad cause i felt the light getting hot when i first tested it out but then again dont all lights get hot

thx for the calcs you guys but can some one give me a crash corse on watts ohm and Mas?

BTW i checked the LEDs i used and their actually 0805 LEDs not 0603 leds :boxed: probably explains the brightness

i used 0603 leds and used a 10 omh resistor, basic pricinple ofr ohms is ohms law,
V (voltage) = I (Current) x R (resistance)

u re-arrange to get R = V/I

every LED has a voltage rating, you don't want to put more then it's rated otherwise it will die, so a resistor decipates voltage as heat,

you need to know the current to the point for the best calcs but for 5v (the ps3 controllers are 3.7v) 10 ohms is normally sufficient for normal led's but basicly when you put a resistor in a circuit, theres a voltage across the resistor , decreasing the voltage across the led
