DS External Controller USB Port Help

In Jumbos tutorial on DS External Controller USB Ports (https://acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=27388.0), can I use the pinoutes in this picture (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc157/eeveenerd/pinouts.jpg) instead of soldering directly to the D-pad? 

Also, would I connect every button in my custom controller to the blue wire shown in Jumbos post, and then connect the corresponding wire (eg. P03,P01,R01) to the other lead of that button?

So many questions in one little paragraph    Ummm... here goes.

1.  Yes you can use the pinouts instead of the soldering pads.
2.  No you don't need the blue wire but You do need a ground (just one for each usb your planning on using).  There's one listed in the pinout diagram
