messed up crap that happened yesterday

I play centre midfield in an Irish game called Hurling,it's the fastest field game in the world where you use wooden sticks called "hurley" to hit the ball called a "sliotar" (pronounced slitter) over the bar of the goal or into the goal,over the bar worth 1 point and in the goal worth 3 points.

Anyways moving on,to prolong the life of our hurleys we usually wrap metals bands near the end to hold the wood together.I had hit the ball to a teammate,and a person from the opposing team came runing toward him so he threw the ball into the air so he could hit it up the field.While the ball was in the air the person on the other team also tried to swing for it,he hit a ball,but not the sliotar...
He hit my teammate in the balls,the metal band across the top of the hurley cut into his scrotum and detached one of his testacles.My friend had to cup his sack in one hand while looking for one of his testacles on the ground with the other.

Thankfully he got his ball reattached and still has 2 functional testes,while the person who caused the damage has been given a permanent ban from Hurling.

Believe it or not,this is a true frickin story.....and it happened right in front of my eyes...

Violent but the people who play it aren't pussies like in soccer,you don't get many if any people diving and screaming until they get a free,it's a game for manly men!




The local newspaper comes out at the weekend and should include the story,I'll photocopy it and upload it.
I can safely say that for the rest of my days playing hurling I'll be wearing a cup!
