Psp modding advice/help/etc.
« on: October 30, 2009, 05:40:49 PM »
hello guys! Brand new to this site... and i was wondering what you guys would think would be some nice LED colors for this housing. Im using a psp-1001 running 5.00 m33-6 Cfw. so you guys know that im not like totally new to the whole messing with my psp and im ok w/ opening it up.

the housing is a very shiny silver. here is a link...
http://cgi.ebay.com/PSP-1001-Full-Housing-Faceplate-Shell-Parts-Joystick_W0QQitemZ300341403746QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item45edbe2062
it is very sweet and i like it alot. but i dont know what LED colors i would get. Im leaning on red.

sorta like the pic below. but silver instead of black.

what do you guys think?

also, i read somewhere about the "jewel" of a psp, is that the thing on the UMD door? For mine it would be a silver ring?
is there a place where i can get these or would i have to make one myself?

also, can anyone tell me everything that i would need, like every tool thats needed to change the housing and add the leds.

I think the red would look great!
As for a jewel, I think You can still get one on shatteredmods forum
Also you need 15 watt iron,flux,solder,30 awg wire,0603 leds, and resistors(It might range depending on the leds you get)And a philips screw driver
Also, lighting the home row is hard, and getting leds on the top where the fake speakers holes are cant be done. And why not do led swaps?

Led swap, I mean like changing the mem led orange to red, the green led to blue

Well, If your afriad to take it apart, I dont recommend trying led mods yourself just yet
Here is a video
How to disassemble a fat psp

Yeah, use a dremel and glue your jewel in
