Modding supplies

Hey guys,

I'm a decent computer geek with a fair amount of experience, I'm good at soldering, fixing ds's etc... basic stuff, but I've never actually spent the time to mod much. I'm looking at building an i7 rig about the time of fermi's release with fermi, along with water cooling and everything else. What I want to do though, is mod my case, my color scheme is going to be a dark purple and black. I'm gonna paint using a stencil purple around my image on the side mesh grill, and probably do some other painting. What I want to do, is string up a lot of led's inside the case (all purple, think black light purple) to highlight certain parts and give it a really cool glow from the inside.

What I need help with, is what kind of supplies should I use? I will hook it up to my psu of course, so I'll need to hook them up and calculate the size of resistor I'll use. I'll probably just use one resister and all the rest of the lights in series, but what would you suggest? a resistor per led? Also, what kind of wire, resistors, and leds would you suggest? I also would like to make the water cooling have a purple glow through uv reactive die in the water, and I want the paint to be uv reactive. Obviously, as I've already said, all of this needs to be purple. Where can I get uv reactive paint, and what're the best kinds?

Also, suppliers for each of these parts would be much appreciated, but any help is welcome.

Why not just put in some uv tubes and uv fluid in your watercooling. WAY less work. You can even make parts of your motherboard uv reactive.

That's exactly what I want to do, but what kind of uv fluid and uv tubes should I use? And none of this answers the paint / led questions...

I found those for fluid and lighting, but what should I use for wire? and how would you guys advise that I wire up most of the led's in my case?

Why use leds though? Why not just cold cathode tubes, no need for the extensive wiring then.

To use leds would enable me to spread the lighting out however I choose in the case, I did find some cold cathodes that I could use, but that would give a... different feel to the lighting. What I'm saying, is if I use leds, I can make certain parts have more light cause I can direct the led's where I like. I may use a combination of both in the end though... If you've ever used a blow torch then you know you could heat up the glass of the black light's tube and bend the glass when heated to fit your needs. muss less work than buying 40 Purple LEDs that cost fortune. if you burn your house down its not my fault. =D

Thats siick idea to put UV reactive dye in the coolant system.  ++props
