Flash for the iPhone and iPad now a reality
« on: May 30, 2010, 04:07:16 PM »

Want to play flash items such as in the example above on your iDevice? Read on to find out how you soon will be able to...

Smokescreen, Developed by Chris Smoak (a rather fitting name) is a browser application for iDevices which allows them to run flash content through JavaScript. Want to know how? Look below:

"It runs entirely in the browser, reads in SWF binaries, unzips them (in native JS), extracts images and embedded audio and turns them in to base64 encoded data:uris, then stitches the vector graphics back together as animated SVG."

The smokescreen system easily allows non-interactive flash content to be played. Flash games, however, are still much out of reach, running at a very slow rate due to the complex translation process.

Expect to see more developments in the near future.

It doesn't run properly, not even in a desktop browser. I looked into this last week O:)
