Need Help with BMU3
« on: March 02, 2011, 03:41:19 PM »
I'm trying to edit BMU3 in mplab. So far, I've edited the code and have built it. The code saved as an mcw file and I cant load it to micro pro. Does anybody know how to fix this? Also how do I put a burst code into BMU3, all I see is rapid fire, although it sayed it had a burst code.

After you build it you should have a .hex file.  The .hex is what you flash to the device.  If you can't find the .hex in the MPLAB folder, search the folder for *.hex.

when you save it, you should have multipule fiels, one of them is the hex.. if not you did something incorrectly. you should be using the project wizard in mplab, as for burst, and waw patch, the notes to edit the code for those functions are all in the discussion thread for that code.

no do not use the project wizard it is way over the top for editing bmu3

you want to first open the .asm file you wish to edit using File>Open.

then edit the code as you wish i'm sure this is explained in the bmu threads

Code: [Select]
bcf FLAGS, BURSTACTIVE
; bsf FLAGS, BURSTACTIVE ;uncomment to activate burstfire for state 3
; movlw 0X04 ;set for 5 rounds, change to whatever you want
; movwf BURSTRATE

This is the part you edit for burst there is a section like this for each mode, they can be found near the bottom of the code, just edit them as explained in the comments next to this part of code.

Finally when you have the code edited as you like, make sure the window containing the BMU source code is in focus and then goto
Project> Quickbuild (FILENAMEXXX).asm this will build the hex file and output it in the same directory as the asm file is in providing no errors occur. If an error did occur the output window will say build failed and list the errors that occurred.

Then all you need to do is load the .HEX file in micropro and program as normal

Thank you so much! I used hyper999's instructions and it saved as a hex file. I will program the chip now and test it in my socket.
