Downgrade PC
« on: March 29, 2011, 07:14:28 AM »
Im thinking about selling my current computer and downgrading to something less powerful, maybe even a laptop.

All I require is the ability to play movies at 1080P with no lag.

My current setup is:

Asus  M4A785-M
3ghz AMD Phenom II X4 945
8gb DDR2
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
2.5tb hdd space
DVD Burner
2x Samsung T220 22in Monitors

What do you think would be a good downgrade, but still have some power to it?

Also: What do you think I could sell this computer for?

honestly you should just keep it... they aint worth much anyhow, i have almost that exact same computer sitting in a garage somewhere leeching off of someones internet hosting files....

newer net books can play 1080p with no hassle, although the screens aren't 1080p.

a net book is relatively cheap, i use one for TONS of things (and have not upgraded the ram to 2gb yet), and use my phenom II x6 for video editing and such.

Sell a monitor on craigslist for $150? Sell a hard drive (assuming you have more than one) for $.07/GB?

Really, if you're looking to save money, downgrading would be a waste of time because simply--you won't get much back. I would keep it.
