How can I make a PIC12F683 chip
« on: May 01, 2010, 09:30:12 PM »
Okay I want to make a PIC Programmer to program PIC12F683 chips, that is all I want. I NEED it to be USB compatible as I only have a laptop. I am on a budget. I need a list of what I will need, and how to build it. Someone please help me, I know it's possible to make one that is USB compatible because of PICkit 2 Clones. :beg: :beg: :beg: :beg:

btw, its on a circuit board in the pic, but itll work on a breadboard, or a ghetto pile of components wired together.

...a ghetto pile of components wired together.

LOL!

But yea seems complicated but I can get though that it's just the Spanish that's going to get me, as I don't know Spanish.

Is that a Micro USB I see?

If im not mistaken you could just do this... and read it through.

what dont you understand?
all the parts are labled. the red dots indicate wire conections, wire/line intersections without the red dot indicdicat wires running past each other.

here is a pic of one I built:

Now... instead of using the cable in the picture. You can buy a cable with that end and a USB end. IDK what that part of the cable is called though. It may or may not work, i havent tested it yet but I plan on trying it when i get the parts to make that programmer.

That schematic is for a serial port programmer.   If you dont have serial and want usb i suggest a pickit2 or pickit2 clone.  it may be possible to use a usb to serial converter, however for the same price you could cop a programmer.

What a bump but a good question. Yes you can build a programmer on your breadboard to program your chips.
