XEX Menu USB Install

XEX Menu USB

Introduction
This tutorial will help you install XEXMenu on your new jtag. XEXMenu is a loader that will be your tool to setting up your jtag and running code. There are other ways of installing this program, such as burning it to an ISO, I prefer the usb method which will be described in this tutorial.

Parts Needed
  • JTAG xbox 360 with a freeboot dashboard installed
  • USB Flash drive

Software Needed

Difficulty rating: 1/5

Average Time to Complete:  10 Mins

Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1
Use the formatter to format your usb memory card to a FAT32 file system. To do this, open the GUI, select your drive allocation size and format. This will erase everything on the drive so be sure to backup any needed files. This step is only needed if you are going to use the rest of your flash drive for homebrew storage.

Step 2
Insert your newly Formatted flash drive into your xbox 360. Go to settings>memory> and customize your drive. allocate part of your memory (2-4 gigs) to the xbox, and leave part of it open for use transferring files.

Step3
Now that you have an official microsoft partition, insert it into your pc. This can be a bit confusing if you have any info already on the drive. The goal here is to have a root folder called "content"  with subfolders=0000000000000000>code9999>00080000>C0DE99990F586558.

If you are following this tut closely, your drive should consist of half Microsoft partition and half fat32 partition. Using the USBGUI included with the downloads, open the Microsoft partition by clicking the gui application, click file> open device> you will see the root of the blank drive "..." will appear. Click inject folder, and select the extracted file from the download section titled "content" (this is the root and contains the other needed files.)

or

If you already have a content folder on the drive, follow the file path on your dive to get to the content>00000000000>and inject the code99999 and lower folders/files. you can adjust this as needed, just ensure the complete file path is correct   Content>0000000000000000>code9999>00080000>C0DE99990F586558

Step 4
Close and eject your flash drive and insert it into your xbox360. Navigate to your game folder and you should find a new demo called xexmenu.

XEX menu can be a pain to get used to as there are no help icons, but use your bumpers and dpad to navigate through the files and folders, press Y button to bring up the action menu for a file.

You can now move XEX menu to your oem hdd if equipped. navigate to the code9999 folder, press Y, move down to copy. Navigate back to root and laft to the hdd content>0000000000000000 press Y, and move down to paste.

that is understandable, but how did you get fsd installed onto the jtag? there are limitations to FSD, I would be willing to bet you still have a code9999 folder on your jtag. FSD will not write to the root of a drive...XEX will. You may not use it, but you should have it installed incase of a bad update to FSD or file corruption.
