According to Jeff Fidacaro, a Susquehanna Financial analyst, Apples iPad 3 is going to be going into production during this quarter; Mr. Fidacaro told All Things Digital. Although an exact number of devices isn’t known, due to “supply chain checks,” it is estimated that between six-hundred thousand and possibly one million, devices will be produced during this quarter.
Mr. Fidacaro would only comment that the device would be released early within the year 2012. Not everyone is so quick to jump on the early 2012 bandwagon though. Back in August The Linley Group said that Apple is more likely to bring the ‘A6’ processor to the iPad 3. The ‘A6’ processor will feature quad cores in contrast to the ‘A5’ dual core processor in the iPad 2.
Earlier, this week, AppleInsider reported that Apple is planning to release a cheaper version of the iPad, in order to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire, which will sell for 199$ retail. The information came from Brian White, a Ticonderoga Security analyst. This was all brought up to suppliers of electronic components from China and Taiwan.
Only time will tell if these rumors pan out or not. Information from all over the net: PC Net, cNet, All Things Digital, Apple Insider.
