:censored: PS3 - Blu-Ray Drive
« on: January 13, 2012, 02:50:05 PM »
Hey

I bought a YLOD PS3 on ebay for a good deal, managed to bring it back with my trusty heat gun, only to find it didn't read discs, so I opened it up cleaned up some dust and put it bactogetherer. When I tried to put a disc into it, it made a strange noise, so I pulled it out (probably a bad idea) and now it seems to of closed its doors  :dntknw: and I have been tinkering with it ever since and have caused some more problems (problem A).

This is actually my first PS3 console, so I know nothing about them really.

If anyone can give me some advice, tips or points, I would be grateful.  :help:  :beg:

Here are the problems and some pics.

A- I was fiddling around with that small assembly and 2 cogs fell out, not sure where they go, but I think they came from that section circled.

B-  When I first got the drive, I opened it up and put it back together. When I tried to put a disc in it made a strange noise so I Consequentlyt. Consiquently it thinks it has a disc in it and has shut its doors (circled)

C- Some people think I have got alignmentout of allignment but idk  :dntknw:

The part you have circled in A and the 2 gears needs to be the same on the right side, they have to be aligned just right... sorry i didnt get back with you on videos or what not got busy but i will check soon and get back to you... they havet o work together . this drive isn't a very easy one to assemble everything has to be perfectly aligned...for it to work properly.

Ive had this same problem many times, and it seems that once you fix one problem another arises. by following the tutorials posted above and a bit of frustration you will get it done.
the flaps that keep your disk from entering are just help by a gear connected to a small motor. by unscrewing this gear and taking it off you should be able to move the pieces back down and ten replace the gear. Good luck

Problem A fixed, you just have to remove the spring, then that area comes of the rest of the assembly, there are 3 points and you just slide the cogs back on, put it back on the assembly, put the spring back on and your done!

Went through junker15 channel and found some really helpful stuff, this one solved the biggest problem, just that motor! All I have to do know is get that small assemble back in without the cogs falling out!

Thanks for your help guys will let you know if it works!
